Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod

Corsair H100 Ultimate Cooling Mod

Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod

Introduce The Madness

So Corsair came to us and asked us for some ideas on what we could do with the H100 to help improve cooling. After one to many coffee's we decided it would be an awesome idea to fit it with 40, yes that's four zero of their SP120 performance edition fans and see what the temps were like. The video below is very surprising and even we were not ready for how good the results were!

First of all a look at what 40 fans really looks like, we need to remember thats JUST fan boxes!

Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod     Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod

We worked on one side of the H100 first, it was easier to balance this way, and having it bolted to the rig helps a lot initially!

Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod     Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod

SO on to the finished article, its been noted it looks a little like the straight 6 Jaguar engines of old, have to admit I quite like the thought of that!

Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod     Ultimate H100 Cooling Mod

Lets take a look at the video where we show you how its all put together and also the very surprising testing!

So to conclude if you have a bit of free time one sunday afternoon this could be your ultimate benching tool, the results were very well worth the effort and it was far quieter than we were expecting. We would almost go as far as to say this should be something everyone has in their benching box its so effective! Can you top our H100 mod? If you can we would love to see your work in the OC3D Forums. As ever though you can discuss you thoughts on this article HERE

Beats every heatsink around. Is about as close to a custom loop as you can get.
Just the stock fans are a bit loud, so it's a fair bit more expensive than heatsinks when you consider spending an extra £30/$40 on better fansQuote

You know negative ambient would mean condensation forming around the CPU. Since I didn't see a peltier hooked up or any insulation there, it's a good guess your temperature sensors were either out of whack, or you were doing something funky.

It's a fun experiment to do if you're bored on a Sunday, but you didn't turn the crazy meter up high enough. I would have chosen a 80mm-thick 120.4 radiator with 40 fans on each side, and mount it to the top of a case - Thunderbird case mod anyone?Quote

What did you actually use for cooling to get that CPU Temps so low @ 1.4V. My H100 will do "only" 1.2V on the 2011 socket CPUs, so you must have used SS cooling. I wonder if you got the LittleDevil kit. That would be worth a review!Quote

I actually used the H100. If your H100 will only do 1.2v then you are doing something wrong. I bench mine regularly at 1.4v with the H100 and it stays below 70.Quote

I wonder what I'd have to do to get it going properly. After all I had the H100 for 3 months now on a 3930k @ 4.4 GHz 1.2V. A friend of mine gets the H100 to cool 1.22V because she uses higher RPM fans. I use the Corsair SP120 quiet edition - only push.

I even switched thermal pastes, but I couldn't cool more than 1.2V. Are your room temperatures that low or something?

I use the GigaByte GA-X79-UD3 board and it's set to 1.25V in the UEFI but because of the V-drop I see 1.2V with CPUz which stresstesting...

Does anybody use a similar combination and get the H100 to cool 1.4V?Quote

Quote:
I find it hard to believe that adding that many fans wouldn't lower the temperatures drastically, anyone believing it was a troll video is just being swindled by a group of people with an agenda. Show me the real numbers then, the numbers that are still going to be amazing. Because anyone with common sense can tell you that the amount of static pressure created by that setup will greatly reduce temperatures. If I'm getting more than 7 degree temperature drops with fans that have static pressure of 12mmH20 in Push/Pull, then obviously 40 fans with a static pressure of about 2.0mmH20 are going to drastically improve performance numbers as well. Anyone who believes this was a troll imagination gag video has no brain of their own to think about what the actually results STILL would be if it were properly tested. Which doesn't make sense to go into all of that effort, and not even post the legitimate numbers. Like I believe that for a second.
