The 2400 MHz ram was so dirt cheap that there was really no reason to go for lower. Plus it's Ivy bridge, that CPU will eat 2400 MHz on the ram no probs.

I'm building this in the CoolerMaster HAF case, which I realize is not the most visually pleasing machine, but its open mesh spacious design and its 200mm fans cool very very good. Put a fancontroller in and you can switch to a nearly silent machine (with the fancontroller on the one hand and a quiet CPU cooler in combination with the right bios settings.

That's why I'm adding a fancontroller, a 200mm fan (for the top) and a 140 mm fan (for the side). The case comes with a front 200mm fan and rear 120mm fan pre-installed.

you may note the low storage space, but that was already decided because i already have a 1tb external hard drive, and am considering getting a multi-bay e-SATA enclosure. Thus the 128gb is more than enough for my games, and OS, while the pics, music, w/e all go to external.Quote

So I'd like to keep things coordinated a little bit. The MSI 7770 colour scheme is black & blue so I've tried to keep the build to those colours

Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Black Mini-ITX - £29.98
Shipping: £7.70
Total: £669.00

Case will need some small modding to fit the H80i but since it's OC3D I assume that's allowed

Other things I'd like to add but are not in the list are,
Blue/Black SATA cables
Blue/Black PSU, Fan & Case individual cable sleeving
Corsair SP fans with the blue ringsQuote

I would place this sweet little system system next to my 46 inch TV and put Steam's Big Picture on it.

This is definitely the best (small) system on this post. C'mon an prove me wrong!Quote

Cpu: I5 3570k

Total
£737.76

Reasoning behind each part if you care.

Cpu: Great cpu for gaming and is a really good bang for the buck.
Motherboard: I like the look of a sabertooth and the sabertooth boards usually come with a really good warranty.
Case: I chose the silencio as it is nice to look at and will help reduce noise levels.
Cooler: I chose the H80i as it will give more headroom for overclocking then the H60.
Psu: I chose the seasonic powersupply as they are a good brand and with such a tight case having it being modular will eliminate any unwanted wires helping to keep the system tidy. Also being 80 plus gold means it is more efficient.
Ram: I chose the low profile ram in case I would want to change to something like a noctua cooler in the future.
Storage: The m4 would be used as a boot drive and then the western digital hdd as the main storage. With the ssd being so cheap why not add it.Quote

For my entry I have chosen the following components

CPU: FX-4300 3.80GHz £90
Cheap and nice OC potential.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) £52
Preety neat price for what you get. 2x PCIEx16 for crossfire and 4x2133MHz memory up to 32GB total.

Ram: 2x 16GB (2x8G G.SKILL RipjawsX 1866MHz CL10 2x£72=£144
A lot of ram, so you can have bunch of thing running at the same time. You can OC them too!

Hard Drive: Raid 0 2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive 2x£57=£114
You get 2TB of SSDs speed storage. Up to 400MB/s read speeds with almost no drop in performance.

PSU: 750W Corsair Builder Series 750CX 80PLUS Bronze Power £69

CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 2 Dual Fan Quiet CPU Cooler £58
This one is amazing. That is what you need if you go with AMD CPU and don't want to have water in your case. You can OC you CPU almost to water cooling levels.

Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 Black Midi Tower Window Gaming Case £37
Nice deal for a gaming case with window. Yea.. there will be some nice view inside on that 4x GeIL memory, beastly CPU cooler and.... crossfire! Yea..
We are now at £564. We have almost £200 to go!

2nd GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics £80
This upgrade makes a big difference in games. You get 2 times better performance!

With £100 left you can get some fans!
This case supports up to 6 fans!
Top: 120 mm fan x 2
Front: 120 mm fan or 140 mm fan x 1
Rear: 80/90/120 mm fan x 1
Side: 120 mm fan x 1
Bottom: 80/90/120 mm fan x1
Total 5x120mm and 2x140mm fans!
Thermalright TY-147 140mm Quiet Fan for £6
and
5x Cooler Master SickleFLow Blue LED Quiet Case Fan 120mm 5x£4=£20
Couse blue looks cool!
Now that we have about £70 left we can get command center for you case ventilation!
Zalman ZM-MFC3 5.25" 4 Channel Fan Controller - Silver for £34

Total cost = £704
You can buy some new games for the rest! This machine would be a beast compared to my Athlon X2 5000+ and HD 2600 pro 256MB DDR2 Quote

CPU is a no brainer £148.20 cheapest ive seen online so far

MOBO £90.40 not 100% about this board since it will may need a bios update to run the CPU catch 22

RAM not the fastest but with 2 of these packs = 32 gig of pure beauty for AMD ram drive at £159.98

HDD 128 gig SSD only for OS drive i will use my existing drives out of my current PC for the usual junk wink wink £91.99

PSU This was chosen due to its price and low noise £85.14

Cooler Hydro H100i 94.87 ive had water coolers before and wasnt impressed but ive seen a few youtube vids about this one

Case £64.28 not 100% sure if the CPU cooler radiator will fit perfectly in here if not i will have to mount it externally ive sacrificed on the case to keep the specs high

with the budget of £750 all this should leave me with £15 just enough to order take away while i build it Quote

A few of my decisions were based off of my preferences. My hdd I would just get one decent sized hard drive for storage, then later get a sdd.
I chose the ram cause i would need low profile for the noctua nhd-14.
The case, I just like white on a case. Seems like everyone has black, I wanna be different. Also the cable management in that case seems very good along with alot of room. Also the noctua should fit in that case fine. I prefer the noctua over anything myself. Water cooling is good, but I dont want to risk it just yet.
Thats my build.Quote

OK then lets go 2011, just because we can, do you need any more reasoning than that? Also since I sleep in the same room as my computer is in it needs to be quiet and have no annoying LEDs as well as being powerful. Hence I picked:

CPU: Intel i7 3820 - £215.94 (Offer)

Motherboard: Gigabyte X79-UD3 £119.99 (Offer)

RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte DDR3 1600 4x4GB Cas 9 1.5V £60.24

PSU: Cosair TX750M £93.49

Hard Drive: (Well... Solid State Drive) Crucial M4 128GB £91.99

CPU Cooler: Noctua D14 2011 Edition £59.98

Case: Fractal Design R4 Black Pearl £92.09

Of course I would need a graphics card Quote

Seeing as it's a 7770 I'm going with a budget build to match

CPU - Intel Pentium G860 3.00GHz for £47.94 (web only price)

Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H Intel B75 (Socket 1155) Micro-ATX Motherboard for £55.80

RAM - 8GB ( 2x4GB ) G.SKILL Sniper LV 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 for £37.19

Hard Drive - 500GB Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive for £35.94 and Mushkin Chronos 120GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive for £83.94

PSU - 520W Seasonic M12II-520 80PLUS Bronze Modular Power Supply for £61.19

CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 Quiet CPU Cooler for £15.94

Case - Zalman Z9 Black Midi Tower Gaming Case for £37.20

Total - £375.14 (excl. delivery)

Solid budget build imo. Decent case, very solid PSU, luxury of an SSD, plenty of low profile RAM and a CPU that is a surprisingly strong option for gaming considering the price.Quote

Hey all, how's it going?

For the CPU i went with the tried and true 2500k: https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials...roductId=43216 £149.94

For the motherboard I chose the beautiful ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 : https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...roductId=49261 £181.99

For the RAM I picked up some Mushkin Enhanced BlackLine : http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=43961 £31.57

For the case i decided on the always sexy 500R : http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=45692 £97.00

For the HS i picked out a be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced : http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...roductId=43590 £41.94

As for the PSU i decided on a 500W Corsair Builder Series : https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...roductId=52661 £47.94

Last but not least, for storage i chose a WD Caviar Black: https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...roductId=52661 £73.31

And an OCZ Vertex 4 : http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Stora...roductId=49267 £99.95

I'd say this looks pretty damn sexy, and totals in at £741.49.

Thanks for the opportunity, And good luck to everyone.Quote

this is my entry. i believe in this rig, with its great motherboard and great budget case, and great cooling, if the chip is a good one, it will kick some rear end. 300R is able to fit a H100, so i believe it can fit a H100i too. 8GB of Vengeance Ram, and 240GB of ssd this build would be a serious butt kicker with it being under 1k pounds.total cost of this config: 737.51 pounds, thats
12.49 saved, which would probably go into shipping and handling costs.

note:the only thing i would change is the SSD. crucial m4 256GB makes this build 6 cents over the budget :/Quote

I took a different approach to this. I didn't want to spend the full amount. The HD 7770 is Midrange, Will play most game on High between 30fps @ 1080p. So I thought about a Sofa PC. Play my pc games on the sofa on my 1080p TV with a xbox Controller. 30fps is perfect for controllers with vsync. So a cheap Sofa PC.
