Nvidia Shield Tablet Leaks

Rumors of a Nvidia Slate-Style Shield 2 have been floating around for a while, now a leaker has released an image of this gaming tablet viewed from the front. From here we see a screen with controller based games, suggesting that this unit can be attached and detached from a controller. This in effect makes the Shield Tablet a full on tablet and a gaming handheld/streamer.

One of the main flaws of the current Shield is that it isn't really usable as a tablet, where the controller adds unneeded weight and can block easy use of the touch screen. With the shield 2 this problem seems to be resolved.

Spec wise this is what we know. The screen is 7.9 inches, the tablet utilizes Nvidia'squad-core Tegra K1 CPU,has 2GB of RAM and a front facing camera. Aesthetically the tablet looks like Nvidia's Tegra Note with a Gunmetal Gray colour scheme and front facing speakers.

Hopefully we will soon see more of the Shield 2, it's controller and see how much Nvidia has improved their game streaming technologies. One thing I will say is thank you to those American Beta testers with the original Shield. Nvidia better have a European release this time.

We at OC3D will continue to provide you with information on the Shield Tablet and anything Nvidia as it develops.

The shield definately looks interesting, but till there is a bit more information about on it, I will reserve judgment on it, but the specs, sounds like a modified original Nexus 7 and hyped up with latest stuff.Quote

I do like the idea of the Shield, but it restricts me to an Nvidia environment. I don't want restriction.

Nvidia ATM want to create a Nvidia ecosystem, with a G-SYNC monitor, a Shield for streaming etc. But entering that System will undoubtedly limit how much i can streach my budget sometimes as I always go for what gets me the greatest performance for the pound, which isn't always Nvidia.Quote

Also edited the OP. Talk about a leak, Nvidia is going to be ed.

They spent so much time setting up the timer and everything.

Hi

I am a bit confused - does this device also allow you to play the games on your PC through the tablet/controller if you have an Nvidia GTX GPU. I have never tried that but seem to have noticed when installing my GTX 760 ROG Striker

Would love an explanation of what it is as I have not followed the Shield device at all

Essentially with a shield your Nvidia based Desktop can game and stream the image to your Shield Device (either Shield 1 or Shield Tab). It is relatively low latency and using your controller you can then play your game.

Then there are Shield games/ games on android and Nvidia Grid.
I don't know much about Grid but i think it is when Nvidia servers play the game and stream it to Shield.Quote
