Sometimes we step away from the massive reviews with hundreds of pages of graphs to something a little smaller, but that is actually really useful.

One such small thing is the Arctic Home Charger 4500. We know we're not the only people who have a raft of devices on hand, all of which require their own particular charger and thus take up a socket on your wall. Wondering whether to charge your iPod or your phone can be a bummer, and if you have a family it soon becomes a situation where your plugs look like a sack of drunk snakes having a fight.

By utilising four USB sockets, the Home Charger 4500 neatly steps around this problem as you can charge four devices at once. Perhaps even better is that the two orange sockets provide 4500mA at once so that your device charges seriously quickly. Very useful for those last minute top ups before rushing out of the house.

Extremely easy to use, although you'll need an adaptor in the UK due to the two-pin power design, the Home Charger 4500 solves all of your device charging needs in a good looking package. Not only does it free up a swathe of wall sockets because of the 'four at a time' charging capability, but with the added bonus of two of those sockets being able to charge your device faster than the chargers you get in the box, you'll not have to wait as long to be up and running.

It might not be the most exciting product we've ever looked at, and its simplicity means that it doesn't require oodles of explanatory text. However, we know that many of you right now are nodding with "damn, why didn't I think of that" wonder at a great solution to a growing problem.

Thanks to Arctic for supplying the Home Charger 4500. Discuss it in the OC3D Forums.

What a wicked idea is it expensive?Quote

Nice device, fast charging is a nice idea, but it should be made very clear this can and will completely rape lithium batteries if you fast-charge them too often and can and will (worst case scenario) cause them to expand/overheat and/or explode the device they are in.

Chucking 4500ma into a device rated for 500ma charging (that's 9 x the rated charge speed in some cases) isn't always a very good idea! The Note 3 charges is only 2amps so it'd be over double on that! (if you don't believe me, look up LiPo explosions on youtube, that can burn your house down!)Quote
