According to the Chinese Commercial Times, Asustek and Gigabyte Technology both stated they are considering whether or not to attend CeBIT in 2008. Further, there has been a steady decline in the number of participating companies present at the IT trade show.

The cost to attend CeBIT is large, but with most visitors to the trade show being end-users and coming from Germany, Taiwan-based OEM and PC part companies did not benefit much from the show

I can’t say that I’m surprised at this news. The cost to ship staff and new products to the major trade shows must be astronomical. Let’s hope this doesn’t mean the beginning of the end for large scale shows where manufacturers can parade their latest wares.
