Ubisoft has released 14 minutes of in-engine footage for Beyond Good and Evil 2, giving gamers their first ever look at the title. Sadly this demo is not much more than a proof of concept, showcasing some jetpack gameplay as well as some in-atmo and in-space flight in a dogfighter-style aircraft.

The game’s Creative Director, Michel Ancel, has stated that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in an early stage of development, with this demo showcasing the game’s Voyager Engine but little about the final game. When Beyond Good and Evil 2 launches, it likely bear little resemblance to this early demo.

Like many early game demos, Beyond Good and Evil 2 promises a lot but shows very little, showcasing the outsides of air/spacecraft and promising full interiors while showcasing nothing. The demo also shows several distant cities, none of which were explored in the demo. Here you will see space flight and not much else, promising a game with a huge scale but showcasing no depth.

This was nothing more than an in-engine tech demo, so more will undoubtedly be added to the game over time, that being said what has been shown so far isn’t that impressive. Let’s hope this game doesn’t turn into No Monkey’s Sky.
