Windows 7 Beta Death Count Begins

Windows 7 Beta Death Count Begins

Microsoft has set the ball rolling for phasing out the beta of Windows 7; the two hour operating restriction comes into effect starting today and will continue bugging users until 1st June, 2010.

Microsoft recently confirmed the release date of Windows 7 as 22nd October of this year. Following the announcement, the OS maker today started the expiration process of Windows 7 beta. Starting today until 1st June of next year, all users of the trial version will have to contend with their systems shutting down automatically every two hours.

The only option open to them is to move to the Windows 7 Release Candidate or carry out a clean installation of their original OS. Microsoft’s idea behind setting off the expiration process is of course to have most users initially upgrade to the Release Candidate, and when that too is phased out, move to a fully paid licensed copy of Windows 7.

So for all those of you who installed Windows 7 Beta, the final countdown has begun. You had better upgrade soon!
