Crucial releases their BX300 series SSD

Crucial has officially released their new BX300 series of SSDs, offering PC builders a value oriented drive that makes use of 3D MLC NAND and offers some impressive performance for a SATA drive.

These new SSDs will come in capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB, with prices of £56.39, £83.99 and £139.19 respectively on their own website.

All of these drives are said to offer sequential read and write speeds of 555MB/s and 510MB/s, with random write IOPs of 90K. Random Read IOPs will vary throughout the range, increasing as the capacity of each drive increases. These specifications are detailed in the table below.

Micron is using Silicon Motion’s new SM2258 controller on their BX300 with their own 3D NAND technology, offering a great combination of value and performance. BX300 SSDs will be backed up by a three-year limited warranty.
