Samsung Releases 15.36TB SSD for the Enterprise market

 

Samsung has released a new 15.36TB SSD for the Enterprise market, the PM1633a, offering sequential read and write speeds of up to 1,200MB/s. This new series of SSDs will be offered from 480GB all the way to 15.36TB densities, all of which come in the 2.5″ form factor, allowing many more of these drives to be fitted into a single server than standard 3.5″ hard disks. 

The 15.36 TB model of this drive will use Samsung’s newest 256Gb V-NAND silicon, giving the PM1633a both performance and reliability enhancements when compared to Samsung’s previous generation PM1633 drives.

The new 15.36TB model of the PM1633a drive supports 1 complete Data Write per day for the lifetime of the drive, giving this drive a great deal of reliability, which is a very important metric for enterprise users. 

This drive will use the 12Gb/s SAS interface and will be available in 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 480GB models, offering enterprise users a great deal of choice.
