One of the biggest problems we have with monitors is that they nearly always come with a flimsy stand that allows for tilt adjustment at most. Sure it's possible to find a few models which have a more ergonomic solution but rather than take the risk of buying a model without one then it makes perfect sense to buy a VESA compliant one yourself, safe in the knowledge that it will look after all of your future comfort needs.
Enter the Arctic Z1 Monitor Arm, designed to allow you to position your display in the perfect position to ensure comfortable usage all day long, and yet with a mounting system that actually saves you desk space. Let's take a look.
The Z1 supports screens up to 10KG in weight and up to 27 inches wide. With 15° of tilt and 360° rotation it is easy to adjust it to your preference. The base has 4 USB ports and as the Z1 comes pre-built it's a matter of moments to be up and running.
It has extremely sturdy construction. We know that psychologically it can be difficult to trust having your expensive screen just dangling in mid-air, but the Z1 is built very well and as long as you take your time ensuring that everything is screwed in nice and tightly then it will last forever.
The VESA mount supports both 75mm and 100mm spacing and the table mounting clamp will handle 60mm of desk thickness, sufficient for even the most opulent oak furnishings, let alone your regular thickness office desk.
If you've never enjoyed the ability to place your display exactly where you desire then you are absolutely missing out. The importance of ergonomics cannot be overstated. It's easy to believe that your monitor three inches off the desk and barely tilted backwards is perfectly fine, but you're wrong. It should be at eye level, and the Z1 allows you to put it in the ideal place.
It is available in both red and black, although we're sure that the black option will be the most popular. By utilising a desk-clamp you're gaining deskspace, and the incorporation of a 4 port USB hub into the mounting bracket extends its usefulness beyond merely supporting your display. If you have a window that faces the sun then with barely any effort you can adjust the placement of your display to maximise colour reproduction.
With nearly every monitor on the market, and certainly every decent one, supporting VESA mounting you'd be mad not to invest the small sum of £50 in the Arctic Z1. Your back and neck will thank you, and you'll wonder why you've endured your current monitor stand for so long.
