Cougar Immersa Headset Review

Introduction

Peripherals are probably the item of hardware that most of us get through the most. They also are somewhat under-rated. Like a good monitor can bring a medium graphics card to life whilst a bad monitor would limit even a twin GPU setups capability to wow, so the peripherals are the bit between the squishy carbon user and the cold and calculating silicon. 99% of your time is spend with them beneath your fingertips or on your head, and so it behooves you to pay close attention and ensure that you're getting the best possible experience.

Just as they are under-rated, in general, so manufacturers are aware that people go through quite a few mice, keyboards and headsets in their life. Thus every manu and its dog has a range of peripherals. Some of the brand names are known to people with only a passing interest, whilst some are known only to the cognoscenti. Cougar probably falls into the latter bracket, but if their range of peripherals we've reviewed so far is anything to go by then you better sit up and take notice, because they are knocking out extremely good quality components are very affordable prices. No price-hiking for the brand value going on here as we see from certain other companies.

Today we're taking a look at their Immersa headset. There is a Pro variant which adds USB connection to the mix, but we're sticking to the tried and tested 3.5mm jack model. Does it set our ears alight with its glory or is it the first mis-step in the Cougar range?

Love Cougar's stuff. Got fans and a PSU and they're both excellent. Not surprised these are good. I would buy a set but they are open back and that causes problems for me.Quote

Wow these are great looking at an even more attractive price point. I would really love a comparison between these and the Hyperx Stingers, since they are both at the same price point.Quote
