ASUS GTX780Ti DirectCU II OC Review

BattleField 4

BattleField 4 is still as gorgeous as when it was first released and the ASUS card easily brings us past the magical 60FPS average, even when at 2560x1440. Of course it's good to see that our manual overclock takes the DCU II up to just below the Gigabyte GHz, but the Gainward Phantom is over the horizon.

I still stick by my belief that asus are becoming lazy in terms of GPUs. The 290/290x is crap as far as 290s go for example. I don't know if I have too high an expectation from asus but I was expecting more.Quote

I think you are, can only do as much as the core will allow. Short of making a new GPU they couldnt have done any more to try and polish the 290 & 290X

This is a great card but the stock clocks are lower than the mental fast ones we have tested and the silicone lottery was not shining in our favor with the Ti

Never the less its still cheaper than the £600+ ones that we have looked at and still a mental fast card.....Quote

They could've made a cooler that wasn't the 780's one .

I'm sure if they do a platinum version it'll be amazing. I'm tempted to say that MSI have the market sector that the normal DCUII cooler used to take.Quote

If they made a new cooler every time the price would rocket....Quote

Yeah I know this its pretty obvious that is the case however others did a better job. Surely the flagship of each generation of 'card, be it Nvidia or AMD, should have coolers designed or at least modified around the card in question. Prices would be a bit higher, but if you're getting the flagship 'card you're not going to worry about price that much. Obviously it'd be unfair to expect them to do what GPU specific brands do (e.g. Sapphire, Gainward) and come up with a cooler that performs excellently across the range of chips. I'm sure if they do some super powered 'card it'll be amazing as I said earlier its just the DCUII isn't as good as others and with Asus being huge players you'd expect more.Quote
