OC3D Best PC Hardware Products Of 2011

We review a lot of products during a year here at OC3D, some of them are great, some okay and some less so.

However there are always those bits of hardware that stick in the mind, the ones that really blew our socks off. The ones that, if we were building a rig, we'd be happy to buy. This led to some discussion about which items from each section we'd pick. Not only was this a perfect excuse to pop to the pub and have a heated debate, but we enjoyed it so much we thought we'd share the final list we arrived at.

So without further ado, bring on the fanfare and settle in with the last of your festive nibbles, as we present the Overclock3D Best of 2011. Please remember for a product to be considered for this it had to be RELEASED in 2011 not just available to buy. Please take a look at the following pages for all of the awarded products but TTL has been on the coffee again and made us all a monster video about the awards too!

Intel Core i7-2600K

OC3D Best Of 2011     OC3D Best Of 2011

Starting with the first decision anyone has to make when building a rig, which socket, and therefore which processor, will be the heart of your system? For us there is only one winner, the Intel Core i7-2600K. Although the Core i7-3960X was ridiculously fast, it is also ridiculously expensive, whereas the 2600K provides all the performance you could ever desire at a very reasonable price. Hyperthreading, great overclocking performance. It's the Daddy.

I love this line up, now it's decided I'm definitely going to get the Isku keyboard having searched the internet for weeks in look of a gaming keyboard. Wish I got it when OCUK had it on their sale Quote

uh i think there's an error , you gave the i7-2600k a silver award and a performance award not a gold award (unless you combined them to get a gold?)Quote

The 2500K is perfect for most peoples needs and the price point is very attractive. If you want to fold and have other things that make use of HT, the 2600K is better.Quote

Another good vid I enjoyed it and nice to see the rewards well deserved. Can't wait to see the next installment of high class reviews in 2012. Quote

Just watched the vid and it was a good look back on the year and all the stuff that has been reviewed, I have enjoyed following all the builds like the G1 Assassin HAF X, Snowdrift and H20 etc that have happened throughout the year as well as all the reviews. All the products that got the best of 2011 Award definietly deserved it as well.

Looking forward to more of the same next year Quote

Another great video. I watch/read just about all of your reviews and just want to thank you all for the hard work you all have put in this year.

I do have one question what about the best memory of the year? Is there just to many variables or was it forgotten ?Quote

Brilliant video! AMD better make a comeback next year or I will totally loose faith in them. I loved the shadow H20 build, it inspired me to make my HAF 932 look a bit more red . Got the drive bay covers and the mesh powered coated blood red. Looks awesome!Quote

Oh, sorry about the misunderstanding. Yeh, the awards were different originally.Quote

03-01-2012, 15:10:07

remember ppl, that this is the BEST OF awards

so gold is saying it came FIRST (it was the best of the bunch in its category)... 'of the best'

and silver came SECOND best

it is a 'round-up' of what happened in 2011

the i7-2600K still is silver on review, but won the 2011 award on its own merit (compared to other releases)Quote
