Samsung to release 4TB SSDs in Early 2016

Samsung have just announced that they are going to release 4TB 2.5″ and 1TB M.2 SSDs in early 2016 thanks to their new 48-Layer V-NAND technology.

Previously their V-NAND was only 32-layers high, allowing Samsung to have 50% more storage per memory die when using their new 48-layer V-NAND.

Right now with Samsung’s 48-Layer V-NAND Samsung has 256Gb, or 32GB, of storage per die, allowing storage devices to be created with much higher storage density than ever before.

Samsung intends to update all of their product lines with this new type of flash in all of their current V-NAND using product ranges, saying that this change will increase memory performance and decrease power consumption.
