Nvidia announces their new 4K HDR Shield for $199, which offers 10-bit HEVC/VP9 support and smart home connectivity through technologies such as Google Assistant. 
 
This new 2017 model shield will support HDR game streaming from your own, gaming PC as well as games which are streaming from cloud services like Geforce Now. This device will be one of the first devices to support HDR playback from Netflix, Amazon Prime video and YouTube, making it a neat little media player. 

  

Nvidia announces their new 4K HDR Shield for $199  

Right now we do not know if Nvidia’s $199 base unit will come with a Nvidia controller or how much internal storage it contains, though it is expected that this will be revealed over the next few days. 

Nvidia plans to officially launch this device later this month, making this one of the first HDR ready media players which comes with additional smart home functions through Google Assistant.
