Project London aims to bring the UK’s capital into GTA V

A modder called Kieran Merrilees is bringing the Grand Theft Auto series back to London, modding GTA V to bring the city’s landmarks, vehicles and eventually a whole new London inspired map into the game.

The GTA series has not been in London since the release of GTA: London 1969 and 1961, which were mission packs for the original GTA from the days when the series was a 2D top-down shooter.

Project London is a work in progress that is a collaboration between several active GTA V modders, who have already released UK-inspired police Vehicles and several UK-themed locations into the game. At this time there is no release timeframe or schedule for the full mod, though there is a “So what is next?” section on their mod’s webpage

The project is currently running with three active contributors, who use the screen names Raddz Modding, KieranMerrilees and Albo1125.

This mod will take a significant amount of time to create, due to both the complexity of the project and the fact that the modders involved also have jobs and other life commitments. Kieran has admitted that there have been times where the development of this mod has stopped in the past, due to his busy career as a financial advisor for Lloyds Bank and other factors.

Given these factors, it is unknown whether or not this modding project will ever be completed, though what has been achieved so far is extremely impressive.

You can learn more about Project London on the mod’s official webpage
