Call of Duty: WWII’s first story trailer has been released

Activision and Sledgehammer games have released their first story trailer for Call of Duty: WWII, a trailer that focuses on the struggles of the troops that invaded Europe during D-Day and the campaign afterwards.

In the trailer’s description, there are mentions of famous points in the war like D-Day, the Battle of Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. So it looks like Sledgehammer will be redoing sections of the war which have already been covered excessively in video games, though not in this modern console generation.

Call of Duty: WWII tells the story of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels, a young recruit in the U.S. First Infantry Division who experiences combat for the first time on D-Day, one of the largest amphibious assaults in history.

After surviving the beaches of Normandy, Red and his squad will fight their way across Europe, engaging the enemy in iconic battle locations such as the Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge, as they make their way into Germany. The journey begins on November 3.

This trailer also showcases the Nazis as the clear bad guys in this trailers, showing officers searching captured American soldiers for dog times to find any Jews from within their ranks. Most previous Call of Duty games did not focus on this aspect of the war, focusing more on the German Army as a fighting force rather than the Nazi government that was controlling them.

Call of Duty: WWII is expected to showcase both the horrors of the war both inside and outside of the battlefield, which will certainly make some scenes of the campaign very uncomfortable to play through.

Call of Duty: WWII will be released on November 3rd on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
