ARM has created 1,000 new jobs since it was acquired by SoftBank

A report from Softbank has confirmed that ARM has hired over 1,000 new workers since its acquisition by SoftBank, increasing its UK staff from 1,749 to 2,173 workers and their global staff from 2,220 to 2,845 workers. The company has also set up two new offices in Cambridge, where the company is based.

Overall this is an increase in staff count of around 25%, places the company well on its way to SoftBank’s planned doubling of ARM’s staff over the five years since their acquisition. So far only a year has passed since the company’s acquisition.  

Today, ARM is one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, designing the highly efficient and scalable ARM CPUs that can be found in almost every modern tablet or mobile phone. Right now over 60 Billion ARM-based chips have been shipped and over 300 companies have licensed their technology, allowing the company to earn a lot of money over the past few years through royalties. 

It is clear that SoftBank is still committed to developing ARM as both a British company and as a global institution, committing to the development of the company’s base in Cambridge while also investing new research and development opportunities.
