L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files doesn’t support AMD+Radeon CPU+GPU combinations
In effect what Rockstar is saying here is that L.A. Noire will not work correctly on systems that use both AMD CPUs and Radeon GPUs but the combination of a Ryzen 7 and a GTX 1070 or an Intel 6700 and an RX Vega 56 will. These problems only serve to make Rockstar look worse given this game’s co-branding with Nvidia, AMD’s primary competitor in the GPU market.
Rockstar does state that they will be changing the game’s system requirements over time, which suggests that Rockstar plans to optimise their game further, it does not negate the fact that they have to release L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files in such a poor state. Below are L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files’ PC system requirements.
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 10 64 Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K @ 3.60 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 18 GB available space
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 11 compatible
RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 10 64 Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.00 GHz
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 18 GB available space
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 11 compatible
Contrast this to Fallout 4 VR, and we see a very different story, one where a VR port of a newer, more complex open world game launches with support for hardware from AMD, Nvidia and Intel. When compared to Fallout 4 VR’s hardware support Rockstar’s L.A. Noire is severely lacking.
