Intel confirms that there will be no recall for their Raptor Lake CPUs
Intel will not be recalling their 13th/14th generation Raptor Lake CPUs – Upcoming fix to prevent future stability issues
Intel have started to open up about their ongoing 13th/14th generation Raptor Lake CPU instability problem. This week, the company confirmed that a “microcode patch” is coming to prevent the issue. That said, it is now clear that already unstable Intel 13th/14th generation CPUs are permanently damaged. Now, Intel has made it clear that they have no plans to recall affected CPUs.
In response to The Verge, Intel has clearly stated that they have no plans to recall their 13th/14th generation Raptor Lake CPUs. Once Intel releases their microcode fix, it will act as a “preventative solution”. As a result of this, Raptor Lake CPUs should no longer become damaged/unstable moving forward.
Will Intel issue a recall?
No.
With Intel’s upcoming microcode fix, which should be available in mid-August, Intel should successfully prevent more CPUs from being irreparably damaged. Intel has recommended that users of already unstable CPUs should contact Intel Customer Support.
For now, Intel recommends that Raptor Lake users update their PC’s BIOS. This should allow them to utilise Intel’s “Default Settings” for their desktop CPUs. Once their BIOS fix releases next month, they recommend that users of affected CPUs update their BIOS immediately. Doing so will prevent future damage to their processors.
