Battlefield 6 Open Beta breaks Call of Duty’s player record on Steam
Battlefield 6’s Open Beta had a peak player count of over 520,000 players on Steam
The first phase of Battlefield 6’s Open Beta has ended, and it has been a huge success for EA and Battlefield Studios. The game reached a peak player count of over 520,000 players. That was enough to make the beta the 18th most played game of all time on the platform.
This huge player count is a big deal, and it should have Microsoft/Activision worried. After all, Call of Duty’s peak player count on Steam was 491.670 (via SteamDB). That player count was set in 2022 after the release of Modern Warfare II.
EA has confirmed that the beta was the largest in the franchise’s history. However, it remains to be seen whether or not this success will be replicated when the full game launches in October.
(Stats from SteamDB)
A second open beta for Battlefield 6 will be available to play between August 14th and 17th. This will be the last time that gamers will be able to play the shooter before the game’s release on October 10th.
Note that the beta’s player count numbers only account for PC players on Steam. This beta was also available through the EA app. Additionally, the beta was available on the Epic Games Store.
