Nvidia RTX 50 SUPER series reportedly delayed to Q3 2026

Nvidia’s RTX 50 SUPER delay could impact its next-gen RTX 60 series launch

According to a report from MEGAsizeGPU on Twitter/X, Nvidia has delayed its RTX 50 SUPER series GPUs until Q3 2026. This is half a year later than the series’ expected Q1 2026 release date. This is due to a global DRAM shortage, which will reportedly have a huge impact on the supply of 3GB GDDR7 memory modules. These modules are vital for Nvidia’s refreshed RTX 50 series GPU lineup.

Nvidia’s rumoured RTX 5070 SUPER, RTX 5070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 5080 SUPER all reportedly use 3GB GDDR7 memory modules. These modules feature 50% more memory per module than the chips used in Nvidia’s non-SUPER RTX 50 series GPUs. This provides Nvidia’s SUPER series GPUs with a 50% memory capacity upgrade over their existing non-SUPER counterparts.

With DRAM manufacturers being unable to create enough DDR5 DRAM modules to meet demand, Nvidia’s suppliers have likely delayed planned expansions of 3GB GDDR7 chips in favour of producing more profitable types of DRAM. If this is the case, Nvidia will have to utilise 3GB GDDR7 modules less widely, at least for now.

Nvidia’s 16GB RTX 5060 Ti may soon be in short supply

It has also been claimed that Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB may soon be in short supply. If Nvidia has limited amounts of GDDR7 memory, it may be forced to allocate this memory to its more profitable products. Note that Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB uses as much GDDR7 memory as an RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080. If Nvidia needs to be selective with its available memory, it will use this memory to build its more profitable graphics cards.

Nvidia’s delayed RTX 50 SUPER series could impact Nvidia’s RTX 60 series plans

If Nvidia’s RTX 50 SUPER series launches in Q3 2026, it raises questions about what this would mean for Nvidia’s RTX 60 series. Nvidia releases a new generation of graphics cards every two-ish years. Nvidia’s RTX 60 series is expected to launch sometime in 2027. However, if Nvidia’s RTX 50 SUPER series arrives in late 2026, it could mean that Nvidia plans to launch its RTX 60 series in late 2027 or early 2028. Typically, Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs launch one year after a “SUPER” series GPU launch.
