Silicon Power launches its fastest SSD to date, the XPOWER XS90

Silicon Power promises read speeds over 14 GB/s with its new XPOWER XS90 SSD

Silicon Power has unveiled its fastest SSD to date, the XPOWER XS90. This new PCIe 5.0 SSD promises ultra-fast performance and high levels of power efficiency for high-end gaming and content creation workloads.

The XPOWER XS90 will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,300 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s, respectively. This SSD uses a TSMC-made SSD controller that utilises LPDDR4 DRAM caching. Sadly, Silicon Power has not released any specific details about the SSD controller they used, aside from the fact that it features TSMC 6nm silicon. Note that this SSD’s maximum performance can only be achieved with PCIe 5.0-compatible devices.

This SSD uses the M.2 2280 form factor and doesn’t ship with an included heatsink. This makes the SSD compatible with a wide range of devices and allows users to choose their own heatsink if desired.

Silicon Power is backing up this SSD with a 5-year limited warranty. The drive is for high-end desktop PCs and laptops. It promises high levels of performance and low levels of power consumption. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. Unfortunately, we have not been provided with pricing information for this SSD. Given how fast NAND and DRAM prices are changing, this is unsurprising.
