IO Interactive fixes its insane 007 First Light PC system requirements
IO Interactive fixes its messy system requirements for 007 First Light
When IO Interactive unveiled its original PC system requirements for 007 First Light, it was clear that something was wrong. One of the game’s recommended CPUs didn’t exist. Furthermore, the game recommended a 12GB RTX 3060 Ti for 1080p 60 FPS gameplay. Note that this GPU is only available with 8GB of VRAM. Finally, the game recommended 32GB of system memory for 1080p 60 FPS gameplay.
Today, IO Interactive has issued an apology and revised PC system requirements for 007 First Light. Now that the game’s recommendations list real hardware, the game has much lower memory requirements. IO Interactive blames an “internal miscommunication” for the release of incorrect PC hardware requirements. Furthermore, the developer claims to have conducted further testing to ensure its new RAM listings are correct.
We are providing today an update to the PC system requirements for 007 First Light after the community flagged some inconsistencies in an earlier version of the listing.
The earlier mistake was due to an internal miscommunication leading to an older version of the specs to be shared. After a thorough re-examination and additional testing, the recommended RAM has been corrected from 32GB to 16GB, VRAM values have been updated, and the minimum CPU line has been fixed. Additional performance targets will be shared closer to launch.
We’re sorry for the confusion this caused and appreciate everyone who brought it to our attention. The updated specs are now live on our store pages, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of 007 First Light with you ahead of launch.
So what’s changed?
For starters, 007’s minimum CPU is now Intel’s i5 9500, not the non-existent i5 9500K. Next, the game’s minimum and recommended VRAM requirements have been lowered from 8GB/12GB to 6GB/12GB. Finally, the game’s recommended RAM has been lowered from 32GB to 16GB.
Based on today’s hardware requirements, 007 First Light’s PC system requirements can be seen as very reasonable. The game isn’t calling for uber-high-end hardware, and today’s mid-range systems should be able to achieve stable in-game performance. Note that IO Interactive has confirmed that “additional performance targets” for the game will be released ahead of launch. These should include requirements for higher-resolution or higher refresh rate gameplay.
