Philips launches its 1000Hz Evnia 27M2N5500XD
Philips cranks its newest monitor up to 1000, placing speed ahead of resolution
Philips has officially launched its Evnia 27M2N5500XD gaming monitor, pushing display refresh rates to unprecedented levels as the battle for milliseconds continues. This monitor is a dual-mode fast-IPS gaming display. This means the monitor supports a lower resolution at higher refresh rates and a higher resolution at lower refresh rates. In this case, both modes are lightning-fast.
At 1440p (QHD), this display runs at 500Hz. However, the screen also has a 1440p 540Hz overclocked mode. Additionally, the screen supports 720p (HD) at 1000Hz, delivering faster response characteristics for ultra-fast esports titles. Depending on their game, this display can deliver fast, high-resolution gameplay or faster HD gameplay.
Philips lists the Evnia 27M2N5500XD as being a DisplayHDR 400 display with a 2000:1 contrast ratio with a 0.3ms smart MBR response time. The screen features DisplayPort 2.1 (80 Gbps) and HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) ports and supports 100% sRGB, 96% DCI-P3, and 94% Adobe RGB.
Like all gaming monitors, the Evnia 27M2N5500XD supports Adaptive Sync (Variable Refresh Rates), preventing tearing and stutter. It also supports Philips’ Smart MBR tech to reduce motion blur. This enables smooth and sharp gaming. Competitive gamers can also use features like “AI-enhanced Stark Shadow Boost”, “Smart Crosshair”, and “Smart Sniper” to gain further competitive advantages.
Sadly, the pricing of this monitor is currently unknown, though we expect this screen to start showing up at retailers soon.
