Playground Games disputes Forza Horizon 6 leak source

Forza Horizon 6 may have been leaked by a reviewer or insider with early access

Playground Games has confirmed that a build of Forza Horizon 6 leaked ahead of launch. The company has stated that the leak did not result from a “preload issue” for Forza Horizon 6. This contradicts all early reporting about the leak.

Playground Games has confirmed that it is taking “enforcement action” against individuals found accessing the leaked build. Enforcement action includes “franchise-wide and hardware bans”. Gamers who are excited for Forza Horizon 6 should wait for the game’s launch on May 19th (or May 15th for Premium Edition buyers).

SteamDB has weighed in, stating that it is “very likely” the game was leaked by someone with early access to Forza Horizon 6. This may be a reviewer, insider, or influencer. When the game leaked, its file list appeared on SteamDB because someone used their token dumper. Note that SteamDB does not provide downloads and has no involvement in this leak.

In theory, Playground Games could identify the person behind the Forzaconsequencesleak. If a pre-load issue didn’t cause the leak, that means there is a person to blame. If they can uncover who this person is, that person can expect legal consequences.
