V-Color unveils JEDEC DDR5-8000 RDIMM modules with 9600 MT/s overclocking
V-Color has officially unveiled JEDEC DDR5-8000 RDIMM modules for Intel’s W890 platform
V-Color has started using SK Hynix’s newest DDR5 chips to create new JEDEC-compliant DDR5-8000 RDIMM modules. These new DRAM kits operate at 1.1V and support Intel’s Xeon 6 CPUs on W890 motherboards. These JEDEC-compliant Registered DIMM (RDIMM) modules can support up to DDR5-8000 speeds without overclocking, or reach up to DDR5-9600 speeds with overclocking.
With overclocked models, V-Color has verified DDR5-9600 speeds with an 8-channel configuration using 64GB modules. That’s 512 GB of DDR5-9600 memory! This was tested with an Intel Xeon 698X CPU on an ASUS PRO WS W890E-SAGE SE motherboard.
These new V-Color RDIMM modules will be available with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB module sizes. These modules support 4-DIMM and 8-DIMM module configurations. With a blend of speed and capacity, V-Color believes that these memory modules are ideal for AI, 3D rendering, content production, and simulation workloads
As you move up V-Color’s capacity chart, maximum speeds will suffer. That’s what happens when you push the limits of DRAM modules. With 256GB modules over eight slots, users can have 2 TB of DDR5 memory at their disposal. That’s an insane amount of DDR5 memory.
V-Color has not unveiled the pricing of its new DDR5 RDIMM modules. Given their status as DDR5 ECC RDIMM memory and their high speeds and capacities, we expect these new DRAM modules to be incredibly expensive.
