AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB could soon be launched globally

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE may soon break free of Chinese exclusivity

Rumour has it that AMD may be preparing to launch the Radeon RX 9070 GRE globally. Videocardz has obtained a picture of retail packaging for the graphics card that lacks Chinese branding (see above). This suggests that the GPU may be coming to the global GPU market, ending the graphics card’s Chinese exclusivity.

Backing up their claims, Videocardz has also spotted pre-built PCs in the US that mention Sapphire Pulse and Pure RX 9070 GRE graphics cards. This suggests that these GPUs are already available to distributors and system integrators in the US.

AMD’s RX 9070 GRE features 48 Compute Units (CUs) and 12GB of GDDR6 memory. This GPU has fewer compute units than a Radeon RX 9070 but runs them at higher clock speeds. It has less memory than AMD’s RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT GPUs and, as a result, offers lower memory bandwidth.

Last year, Computerbase tested this GPU and found that the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT were 14% and 29% faster than the RX 9070 GRE, respectively. The RX 9060 XT was found to be 22% slower than the RX 9070 GRE. This positions the RX 9070 GRE as an excellent middle-ground between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070.

At this time, it is unknown when AMD’s RX 9070 GRE will become available outside of China. That said, it seems increasingly likely that the launch will happen soon. Perhaps we will hear more at, or shortly after, Computex 2026.
