The Ultimate console-sized PC – The ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 has an RTX 5090 GPU
The most powerful console-sized gaming PC?
At Computex 2026, ASUS has unveiled a new “Edition 20” version of its ROG NUC 16, elevating the system with higher-end hardware and an “Edition 20” black and gold aesthetic.
This console-sized gaming PC includes an Intel Ultra 9 290HX PLUS CPU and an Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card. This makes this system an incredibly powerful gaming PC and workstation. While the GPU is Nvidia’s RTX 5090 mobile GPU, that’s an insane level of GPU power to put into such a compact gaming system.

The ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 begs a question: is this compact PC more powerful than Sony’s planned PlayStation 6 and Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox “Project Helix”? With DLSS upscaling, frame generation, ray reconstruction, and solid ray tracing performance, is there anything a next-gen console can offer that this lacks?
It’s impressive that ASUS has managed to fit this much gaming power into a 3-litre chassis. For context, this console-sized PC is similar in size to an Xbox Series S. Yes, ASUS has fitted an RTX 5090 into the form factor of the smallest and least powerful current-generation console.
While this compact gaming PC is undoubtedly going to have an insane price, that doesn’t make it any less remarkable. A PC of this performance and size is astounding. This is undoubtedly an ROG product. I guess that’s what ASUS’ ROG “Edition 20” products are all about.
