Expect a first look at The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past DLC at Gamescom 2026

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will be showcased at Gamescom 2026. The developer says that gamers will get “a glimpse” of the game at the event, with Gamescom itself saying that gamers can expect “news” about the game. The game will be showcased on August 25th at Gamescom’s “Opening Night Live” event.

This new DLC for The Witcher 3 is due to be released in 2027. The DLC is being made by CD Projekt Red and Fool’s Theory and will have Geralt of Rivia acting as the game’s playable character once again. Geralt is returning to the path on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. That’s right, this DLC is current-gen only. Note that this DLC will be releasing 11 years after The Witcher 3’s last expansion.

With this new DLC, CD Projekt Red is abandoning last-generation platforms. Songs of the Past will not run on Switch, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One. The DLC isn’t coming to Switch 2. That said, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt currently lacks a native Switch 2 version.

The artwork for this DLC shows Geralt unsheathing a third sword. Note that Geralt still has two swords on his back. The artwork also shows a tree-like monster in the background. This monster is unlike the Leshens we see in the base game.
