Bambu Lab teases its first dedicated laser, the R1

Bambu Lab plans to unveil its first dedicated laser

Bambu Lab has officially started to tease its R1 laser, promising users “a new ray of making”. Full details for the new product will be unveiled in September. However, it is clear that this new tool is a laser cutter and engraver.

Note that this isn’t Bambu Lab’s first laser product. The company’s H2-series of 3D printers features a laser add-on. We reviewed Bambu Lab’s H2D Laser 3D printer last year, which includes a diode laser. This laser add-on includes dedicated laser software (Bambu Suite) and laser workflows. In other words, Bambu Lab has already built everything it needs to create a dedicated laser product.

Currently, not much is known about the Bambu Lab R1. The size and specifications of this machine are unknown. However, we expect the product to follow a similar philosophy to Bambu Lab’s 3D printers. That means minimal fiddling and maximised ease of use. In other words, users should be able to spend less time tinkering and more time lasering.

Bambu Labs says that their new laser will be “coming September”. That means that we won’t need to wait long for more information.
