The Witcher 4 now has a release year
The Witcher 4 will not be at Gamescom 2026, but there will be new The Witcher content at the show
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 4 will not be at Gamescom 2026. That said, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have The Witcher 4 news. CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that The Witcher 4 is due to release in 2028 and that the game will be shown at future Gamescom events.
Gamescom 2026 will feature new The Witcher content. The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past expansion will be showcased at Gamescom 2026. The game will be shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Additionally, the expansion will be shown on the Gamescom show floor and will be streamed daily from the event.
According to CD Projekt Red’s joint CEO, Michał Nowakowski, over 500 developers are now working on The Witcher 4. The game will feature Ciri as the game’s protagonist and is being built using Unreal Engine 5. The Witcher 4 will start a new Witcher saga, with several games in development. Currently, it is unknown if The Witcher 4’s story will be linked with The Witcher 3’s new DLC.

The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past DLC is due to be released in 2027. This means 2027 and 2028 should bring new The Witcher content for fans of the series.
