007 First Light gains AMD FSR 4.1 support on PC
FSR 4.1 has arrived in 007 First Light, and almost nobody noticed
With the release of 007 First Light’s PC path tracing update, IO Interactive made undocumented changes to their game, bringing AMD’s FSR 4.1 upscaler to First Light. IO Interactive did not mention this change in any of its marketing materials, which focused heavily on the developer’s partnership with Nvidia.
At launch, 007 First Light did not support AMD’s FSR 4.0/4.1 upscaler. While the game supported FSR 3.1.5, it wasn’t implemented in a way that let AMD’s “FSR Upgrade” driver feature work. As a result, AMD Radeon GPU users couldn’t use AMD’s more advanced FSR 4.1 AI upscalers. Now, FSR 4.1 is available in 007 First Light, giving AMD users with compatible GPUs access to higher-quality upscaling.

One player has reported strange AMD driver behaviour when using FSR 4.1 in 007 First Light. While AMD’s gaming overlay lists the game as “supported” by FSR 4.1, it doesn’t show it as active when used in-game. The user reported improved PC visuals when using FSR 4.1, implying that the upscaler is working as intended. This could imply that 007 First Light is still using a non-standard implementation of AMD’s AI upscaling solution.
It may have taken almost four months, but First Light’s big FSR update has arrived. Now that FSR 4 has arrived, Radeon fans are wondering if AMD Ray Regeneration, AMD’s alternative to Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction, is coming to the game. As it stands, 007 First Light’s Path Tracing mode will always look and play best on Nvidia GPUs, as it uses Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Regeneration tech to boost its graphical fidelity. At present, it is unclear if First Light’s path tracing mode even runs on non-Nvidia GPUs.
