GPU-Z enables RTX 50 GPU hotspot support with 2.71.0 update
GPU-Z becomes the newest PC monitoring app to add RTX 50 series GPU hotspot support
With the app’s 2.71.0 update, TechPowerUp’s GPU-Z now supports Nvidia RTX 50 series GPU Hotspot temperature and “hottest memory chip” monitoring. Useful data for PC gamers and overclockers.
Until recently, these temperatures weren’t available in publicly accessible applications, and Nvidia didn’t allow them to be measured through its public APIs. Since then, people have uncovered workarounds that enable GPU Hotspot monitoring, with HWiNFO and AIDA64 being the first to officially add support for these data points.
Right now, it is unclear how GPU-Z has implemented these new temperature readings. Is it using unofficial workarounds, or has Nvidia allowed for official use of the sensor? Either way, GPU-Z now support GPU hotspot temperature monitoring on Nvidia’s newest graphics cards.
- Added GeForce 50 Hot Spot thermal sensor and the hottest memory chip is also reported (tooltip shows all memory chip temperatures)
Full release notes for GPU-Z version 2.71.0 are available here. This update also adds support for new “overclocking” readouts on its “advanced tab for Nvidia”, and adds support for NVIDIA SYS, L2 and Video clocks. This is great news for users who enjoy deep data analysis when overclocking. For mainstream users, this data is less useful. Regardless, having access to more data points is a good thing.
