Konami battles PC stutter with Silent Hill Townfall’s 1.3.1 patch

Konami improves shader precompilation with Silent Hill Townfall’s newest update

Silent Hill Townfall arrived on PC last week, and one early criticism of the game’s PC version was that it stuttered. While the game has a shader precompilation step, it clearly didn’t cover all of the game’s shaders. This caused stuttery gameplay, especially in the game’s early sections. Now, thanks to patch 1.3.1, Silent Hill Townfall should stutter less on PC.

Patch 1.3.1 addresses issues with the game’s shader pre-compilation step, covering more important game shaders. This should reduce instances of stuttering on PC, as affected shaders should now be pre-compiled. Sadly, we cannot confirm if this change has removed all instances of shader compilation stutter from the game. At a minimum, this update should greatly reduce the number of stutters that PC gamers face.

On September 30, 2026, we released an update addressing a performance-related issue.
Please check that the version number in the lower right corner of the main menu is displayed as v1.4.153829.

– Konami – Silent Hill Townfall Patch 1.3.1 release notes

On Steam, Silent Hill Townfall currently has mixed reviews. Many gamers praise the game’s atmosphere and puzzles, while others dislike that it doesn’t play like other Silent Hill games. Some early negative reviews mention that the game stutters on PC, an issue that should be fixed with update 1.3.1. Without this issue, Silent Hill Townfall might soon earn itself a higher review rating on Steam. Only time will tell.
