Raspberry Pi 4/5 2GB receive major price increase
Raspberry Pi unveils a new round of price increases as memory scarcity worsens
Raspberry Pi has confirmed it is increasing prices for its 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 single-board computers. Both models are receiving a $12.50 price increase. This brings the Raspberry Pi 4 2GB to $67.50 and the Raspberry Pi 5 2GB to $77.50. These are 18% and 16% increases, respectively.
These price increases are due to the ongoing memory shortages caused by the AI datacenter boom. For now, the prices of the 1GB Raspberry Pi 4/5 and the 2GB versions of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 and Compute Module 5 remain unchanged.
For context, the Raspberry Pi 5 8GB was available for $80 at launch. Today, the 2GB model is just $2.50 less. Today, the 8GB model costs $180.
During our last round of price increases, in April, we were able to hold down the price of the 1GB and 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 products, while increasing the price of higher-density variants. This has now become unsustainable, and from today we are increasing the price of the 2GB variants by $12.50, to $67.50 for Raspberry Pi 4 and $77.50 for Raspberry Pi 5.
Prices for other products, including the 1GB variants of Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 and the 2GB variants of Compute Module 4 and Compute Module 5, remain unchanged.

Raspberry Pi recommends that they buy products that are “a good match” for their requirements
For users who want to reduce costs, Raspberry Pi now recommends purchasing models with the performance they need. While the latest models are more powerful, older models may deliver the performance users need for their specific tasks. This means not paying for RAM they don’t need and, if possible, investing in older Raspberry Pi models.
Raspberry Pi recommends the Raspberry Pi 3, 3A+, and 3B+ models if users don’t need the throughput of newer Raspberry Pi models. With today’s RAM prices, buying a Raspberry Pi with more RAM “just in case you’ll need it in the future” isn’t a good option.
