Intel Core Ultra 4000 Nova Lake CPUs leak – What’s BFC?
Intel’s Core Ultra 4000 Nova Lake CPU Lineup leaks with “BFC” models
A new Intel Nova Lake leak has named seven upcoming Core Ultra 4000 series processors, spanning Intel’s Ultra 5 range to Ultra 9. This further validates a prior Intel leak, which listed a Core Ultra 9 4950K processor and revealed Intel’s new CPU naming scheme. Today’s new leak also unveils Intel’s new “BFC” suffix, which appears to denote Intel’s use of BLLC cache, Intel’s AMD X3D competitor.
Based on this leak, Intel’s mainstream flagship CPU will be the Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC CPU. This CPU appears to feature eight P-cores, sixteen E-cores, and four LPE-cores, for a total of 28 cores. Most of the leaked CPUs, aside from GPU-less KF models, also appear to feature GPUs with 32 Execution Units (EUs). All chips are listed with a TDP of 125W, with the exception being the 65W Ultra 9 4900K BFC.
Below are the leaked specifications of Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 4000 series Nova Lake CPUs.
| Nova Lake S CPU | CPU Cores | TDP | BLLC/BFC | GPU |
| Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC | 8P + 16E + 4LPE | 125W | Yes | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 9 4950K | 8P + 16E + 4LPE | 125W | N/A | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 9 4900 BFC | 6P + 12E + 4LPE | 65W | Yes | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 7 4870K BFC | 8P + 12E + 4LPE | 125W | Yes | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 7 4850K | 8P + 12E + 4LPE | 125W | N/A | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 5 4650K | 6P + 12E + 4LPE | 125W | N/A | 32 EU |
| Core Ultra 5 4650KF | 6P + 12E + 4LPE | 125W | N/A | N/A |

What’s BFC? Big F****** Cache?
At present, it is unknown what Intel’s rumoured “BFC” suffix stands for. While I’d assume that Intel isn’t going to use a swear word for an official suffix, our best guess is that most people will call this “Big F****** Cache”. This reminds us of Nvidia’s “BFGD” gaming displays, which officially stands for “Big FORMAT Gaming Displays“. Perhaps Intel will call this Big Framerate Cache, or something similar. BFC is likely Intel’s name for its AMD X3D counterpart. More cache to boost gaming framerates.
