Ashes of the Singularity 2 arrives on PC next month

Ashes of the Singularity II now has a release date

Oxide Games has officially confirmed that Ashes of the Singularity II will arrive on PC on November 10th through Steam. The game is a massive-scale RTS that’s larger than anything seen before, with continent-sized maps that zoom from orbital command to frontline scale.

Ashes of the Singularity II is an RTS with a lengthy campaign, competitive multiplayer and co-op modes, and an “instant action” (you vs AI) mode. In the campaign, players can lead humanity as the United Earth Forces against the Post-Human Coalition and the AI Substrate. All factions will be playable in multiplayer and instant action mode.

Thanks to the game’s Steam Next Fest demo and other playtests, player feedback has refined Ashes of the Singularity 2 into a much better game. Since then, the game has gained new gameplay improvements, better balance, smoother performance, and more stable multiplayer.

Set in the near future, Ashes of the Singularity II puts humanity in a fight for its own survival. The Post-Human Coalition, a faction of humans who have abandoned their physical bodies, has become the most technologically advanced power in the solar system. At the same time, a rogue artificial intelligence has built the AI Substrate, a machine civilization determined to secure its own future at any cost. Caught between them, humanity is losing ground.

The nations of Earth have set aside long-standing rivalries to form the United Earth Forces. Outmatched in technology and weaker unit for unit, the UEF must rely on what humanity still does best: large armies, disciplined infantry, and strategies drawn from thousands of years of military experience.

The factions

For Ashes of the Singularity 2’s campaign, players can play as the United Earth Forces. This faction is comprised of normal human soldiers and focuses on large armies with disciplined infantry, tanks, aircraft and mechs. Their enemies are the Post-Human Coalition, former humans who have uploaded their consciousness into a digital form and use drones to do their bidding. Basically, they are tech bros who believe they are digital gods. Finally, there is The Substrate, a pure machine intelligence that uses vastly different technologies. All their units feature rechargeable energy shields, making hit-and-run tactics a strong strategy.

Each faction will have a different gameplay style and feature unique units. As the only human faction, the United Earth Forces will be the only faction to have traditional infantry. The other factions rely on robotics for battle and play very differently.

Early buyers get a discount

Ashes of the Singularity 2 will be available for $39.99 on Steam. The game will be available with a 20% discount until November 17th, giving gamers an incentive to buy early. Additionally, Ashes of the Singularity 2 will have a Premium Edition, which will be available for $69.99. This version will include the base game and its first three DLC packs. It will also come with Ashes of the Singularity 2’s soundtrack.
