EK releases their Gigabyte X399 monoblock with improved Threadripper coldplate designs

EK has officially released their first Threadripper series monoblock that includes latest Threadripper series coldplate design, a from the ground up block redesign that aims to deliver top-tier water cooling performance with Threadripper series CPUs. This redesigned block was created after the company received sub-par reviews for their initial Threadripper water block offerings (more info here).

This monoblock is the EK-FB GA X399 Gaming RGB water block, which supports both Gigabyte’s X399 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard and their X399 Designare EX motherboards, offering direct liquid cooling for both the motherboard’s VRMs and the CPU core itself. Gigabyte also provides a specially designed passive heatsink for the VRM and network chips that are placed between the motherboard’s I/O shield and the board’s memory slots.

EK’s new Threadripper water block design offers a larger surface area of thermal transfer, covering a larger area of Threadripper’s IHS, allowing Threadripper CPUs to more efficiently transfer heat to the user’s liquid cooling loop, allowing the processor to run cooler.

This monoblock will provide users with both 3-pin digital and 4-pin 12V RGB LED strips, giving users some neat options when it comes to their system’s RGB lighting. Both of these connections are usable on this motherboard and are controllable using Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion app, delivering users with an almost countless number of colour options.

Alternatively, users can remove these RGB LEDs to ignore the customisable lighting trend, leaving EK’s standard nickel-plated copper block design and acrylic glass top as your system’s showpiece.

The only problem with this monoblock is the fact that the Threadripper text is tilted 90 degrees in one direction and the EK water blocks logo is tilted 90 degrees in the other direction. My eyes cannot unsee this flaw!
