Noctua plans to release a “fanless heatsink” later this year
At this time, we do not know what Noctua’s passive heatsink will look like, but Noctua has already confirmed that this cooler’s shape will be engineered with performance in mind, not visual design. That said, Noctua’s look has always been function-oriented and built with precision. That look has always made their designs look good in the eyes of many, especially those who don’t want a flash of RGB or other silly add-ons.
Back at Computex 2019, Noctua showcased a prototype passive cooler which could reportedly keep an i9-9900K cool under load, handling 120W of power in cases with good natural airflow and up to 180W in cases with quiet fans. This cooler is pictured below. This heatsink weighted a whopping 1.5Kg and supported AMD’s AM4 socket and Intel’s LGA 115x sockets. Â
Right now, we don’t know what Noctua’s final passive heatsink design looks like, or how much it will cost when it releases in late 2020 or early 2021. We hope to hear more from Noctua as 2020 progresses.Â
