ASRock officially reveals their Z390 Taichi and Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 motherboards

If ASRock has an unofficial name at Intel, it’s probably “that motherboard maker that can’t keep a secret”. While it isn’t exactly shorthand, the company has gained a reputation for spilling the beans on new hardware features, especially for Intel platforms.

Back in August, ASRock was the first motherboard manufacturer to confirm that Z370 would support “9000 series” processors and deliver “8Core CPU Support” with the correct BIOS update (more info here). Now ASRock has become the first motherboard manufacturer to officially confirm the existence of their Z390 motherboard designs, starting with the Z390 Taichi Ultimate and Z390 Phantom Gaming 9.

Beyond that, ASRock has called Intel’s next-generation of processors 9th Generation, reinforcing their previous 9000 series comments, cementing today’s rumours about the Intel Core i9-9900K.

The motherboard is designed to make the best out of 9th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors, the sturdy VRM design provides extreme overclocking potential, lower temperature during gaming and reinforced system stability for taking on all sorts of arduous computing tasks.

With this coming generation, it looks like ASRock plans to go all-in with 2.5Gb ethernet, with both the Z390 Taichi Ultimate and Z390 Phantom Gaming offering support for the high-speed connection, and while we would prefer to see the industry leap to 10Gbe, it is hard to say that moving to 2.5Gbe isn’t a step in the right direction.

On top of 2.5GBe, ASRock’s Z390 Taichi and Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 will also offer support for dual Intel Gb LAN ports, with both motherboards offering a “12-phase power design”. Both of these motherboards will also support integrated WiFi, as well as both 4-pin and addressable RGB LED connections.

ASRock has finally let the genie out of the bottle; it is undeniable that Intel’s Z390 chipset is coming, as well as a new series of “9th Generation” processors, which means that things are about to heat up in the world of CPUs.
