It looks like AMD is expanding its Threadripper PRO product line/ Until now, AMD’s Threadripper PRO processors have been limited to Lenovo’s P620 ThinkStation systems, but now it looks like AMD has larger ambitions.

AMD’s WRX80 Threadripper PRO platform offers users up to 64 Zen 2 CPU cores, up to 128 PCIe lanes and support for eight-channel DDR4 memory. It’s EPYC in a Threadripper package, combining the best aspects of both Threadripper and EPYC to deliver insane workstation performance.

Thanks to Videocardz, we have out the first image of ASUS’ WRX80 PRO WS SAGE SE WIFI motherboard, a huge motherboard which can accommodate the full capabilities of AMD’s top tier workstation platform. With this motherboard, AMD’s Threadripper PRO platform can be delivered to a larger number of customers and be used to create custom workstations.

AMD may discuss Threadripper PRO at CES 2021, highlighting AMD’s rise within all areas of the PC market. At this time, AMD’s Threadripper PRO lineup will likely remain on AMD’s Zen 2 architecture, as Zen 3 still needs to proliferate into AMD’s EPYC processor lineup. AMD’s Threadripper Pro product line is only six months old and isn’t ready for a Zen 3/Ryzen 5000 series successor.
