EK releases four new dedicated Threadripper water blocks

Back in February, EK issued an apology to their users about the sub-par performance of their Threadripper series water blocks, confirming that their TR4 series blocks did not offer the same levels of cooling performance as other custom water cooling manufacturers.

After this announcement, EK quickly removed discounted their existing TR4 water blocks heavily and proceeded to released new Threadripper series motherboard monoblocks with a purpose built block design for AMD’s latest processors. EK’s older block was an extended variant of their Supremacy EVO, rather than a bespoke Threadripper design, leading to its sub-par performance levels.

Today, EK is back into the Threadripper area with their new Supremacy sTR4, which is explicitly designed with AMD’s X399 socket in mind, covering the entirety of Threadripper’s huge IHS. The block has a dense micro-fin structure with 91 total grooves with a split structure, allowing each Threadripper CPU die to be cooled directly.

EK plans to release four variants of their Threadripper series Supremacy sTR4 water block, with an RGB version, a model with a Nickel plated top, a version with a black acetal top and a variant with a clear acetal top without RGB illumination. Each of these models will use the same nickel-plated coldplate design and will offer the same levels of cooling performance.

The RGB version of EK’s Supremacy sTR4 supports all major motherboard RGB control standards, such as ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light and ASRock RGB LED. The EK Supremacy sTR4 is also compatible with AMD’s SP3 socket and EPYC series processors.

EK’s new Supremacy sTR$ water block is now available from EK’s web store and partnered resellers at the following prices.
