Intel releases the base clock of their i9 7920X 12-core CPU

In an updated CPU pricing list, Intel has revealed the base clock of their upcoming i9-7920X CPU, which will release with 12 CPU cores and a total of 24 threads.

This CPU will come with a base clock of 2.9GHz, which is 400MHz slower than Intel’s 10-core i9-7900X, though the company has not revealed the CPU’s boost clock speeds at this time.

The i9-7920X will no doubt be compared to AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper, which will also come with 12-cores/24-threads and come with base/boost clock speeds of 3.5GHz and 4.0GHz. AMD’s Ryzen CPU will also come with a lower price of $799, with the i9 7920X costing around $400 more. That being said Intel’s Skylake-X CPU will likely offer a much higher boost clock and increased overclocking headroom.
