The HardOCP user TaintedSqurrel has published a conversation with Newegg support, revealing that the US retailer does not expect to ship new i7 8700K CPU orders for at least three weeks, stating that it could take up to 30 days for users to receive their orders.

This highlights the troublesome stock situation that Intel’s high-end Coffee Lake CPUs have experienced worldwide, with Intel’s new i7 8700K being out of stock at almost all major retailers with the exception of some pre-binned delidded models, which come with a hefty price premium.

Newegg’s customer service has also stated that the company has ordered over 3,000 CPUs on order from Intel, showcasing the sheer volume of sales that the company expects to have with Intel’s latest series of CPUs.

Intel has launched Coffee Lake’s high-end K-series CPUs in quantities that are too low to satisfy demand, offering some highly competitive CPUs that consumers simply cannot buy.

Intel’s commitment to sell Coffee Lake with this level of stock shows how rattled they are by AMD’s Ryzen series of CPUs, especially given the fact that Coffee Lake will lower Kaby Lake sales drastically. Even so, our industry sources have indicated that (at least in the UK) that Coffee Lake has launched with more stock than Ryzen, which itself suffered shortages in some regions at launch.
