Alleged RTX 2080 3DMARK Time Spy result leaks

It looks like performance data for Nvidia’s RTX series of graphics cards has started to leak onto the web, revealing a graphics card with an 8GB frame buffer and a listed memory speed of 7,000MHz, lining up perfectly with either the Nvidia RTX 2070 or RTX 2080, both of which use 14Gbps GDDR6 memory.

This benchmark result comes courtesy of TUM_APISAK, who frequently uncovers benchmark results for upcoming hardware on the 3DMARK database and other online benchmark libraries.

It is likely that this leaked 3DMARK Time Spy result is from an RTX 2080, because the RTX 2070 has no firm release date and is unlikely to be as widely available to developers as the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. There is likely more RTX 2080 graphics cards in the wild today, making it the most likely graphics card to be used in this leaked benchmark. The alleged RTX 2080 has a graphics score that is 500 points over a GTX 1080 Ti, a boost of around 5%, giving it similar performance to a Titan Xp.

If this benchmark result is indeed for an RTX 2080, it means that the GPU offers comparable performance to a moderately overclocked GTX 1080 Ti, explaining is high retail pricing. Today, the lowest priced GTX 1080 Ti on Overclockers UK is £689.99, a mere £26 lower than the cheapest pre-order price for a custom RTX 2080 Ti.
