AMD Trademarks Vega II Logo

Back in November, shortly after the release of the 12nm RX 590 graphics cards, AMD Trademarked an image which appears to be their Radeon Vega logo with two vertical lines at the right-hand side.

Looking at the design, it appears to signify a “Vega II” product, with some websites already jumping to conclusions that this logo will be used for AMD’s upcoming 7nm Vega products. It is worth noting that the trademark description has no mention of AMD’s Vega architecture or 7nm process technology, though it does mention both CPU and GPU technologies.

It is likely that this Vega II logo will be used as part of AMD’s Radeon Pro lineup of graphics cards, or future Ryzen+Vega APUs, as AMD’s 7nm Vega technology is unlikely to make its way into the gaming market. AMD is expected to bring 7nm to gamers in the form of their next-generation Navi graphics architecture.

Right now AMD’s Vega II logo design is little more than fuel for the rumour mill, as nothing within AMD’s Trademark description is unusual for a graphics product, leaving no real hints at what Vega II is or what it’s features are. I guess we will have to wait and see.
