ASUS showcases their ROG Bezel-free kit that hides bezels using refraction
ASUS plans to eliminate this problem with their new ROG “Bezel Free Kit”, which is designed to sit in-between displays and refract light in a way that removes these black lines. With this kit, all that users will need to do is align their displays correctly. This is a product that nobody knew they wanted, a product that many would even now consider unnecessary.Â
This kit is designed specifically for those who enjoy simulator games, shooters or other experiences that benefit from a multi-monitor setup. The only downsides of this solution is the fact that these refractive lenses are created using PMMA, a plastic that only allows 90% of a display’s light to shine through, making these refraction lenses slightly dimmer than the remainder of your multi-monitor setup.
The other downside is the need for precise alignment, as well as the fact that this solution will only work at an angle of 130 degrees and that the mounting hardware only works on ASUS’ ROG Swift PG258Q and Strix XG258Q displays. This concept can be adapted to suit other displays, though it is unlikely that there will be enough demand for this product for it to enter into full production. Â

This product will be shown amongst many other prototypes at CES 2018, which includes the company’s massive ROG Swift PG65 BFGD 65-inch 120Hz G-Sync HDR display. Â
