A lot of us do not enter the world of PC gaming by building our own PCs, or even spending money on gaming oriented prebuilds. Many of us start using old home-office PCs, adding a low-power, small form factor GPU to create a low budget gaming PC.

With Nvidia’s new Pascal lineup of GPUs the company has been able to deliver a lot of GPU performance while consuming very little power compared to their previous generation counterparts, making their Pascal lineup very suitable for both the mobile market and small form factor PCs.
Now Gigabyte has announced new small form factor GTX 1050 and GTX 1050Ti GPUs, which can fit into PCs with half height PCI slots and only requires power from your motherboard’s PCIe connection. This will allow this GPU to fit into pretty much any system and will not consume enough power to be an issue when used with old pre-built office PCs.

This GPU is 167mm in length, making this GPU just a little but longer than a standard PCIe slot. Below are the specifications of both of these GPUs, both of which have a mild factory overclock.

CUDA Cores Base Clock Boost Clock Memory Cappacity Memory Clock
Gigabyte GTX 1050 Low Profile 640 1392MHz 1506MHz 2GB 1750MHz
Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti Loe Profile 768 1328MHz 1442MHz 4GB 1750MHz

This GPU will come with a single DVI-D port, dual HDMI 2.0b ports and a single DisplayPort 1.4 port, making this suitable for any modern display. This GPU will be cooled by single 50mm fans, which should be more than enough to adequately cool this 75W GPU.

Both of these GPUs will come with mild GPU overclocks over Nvidia’s reference design, though these are in the order of around 2-3% for each model and should not make that much of a performance impact when gaming.

MSI has previously released dual fan GTX 1050 and 1050Ti low profile GPUs, though this new addition to the market should make half height GTX 1050 series GPUs much easier to find at retailers.
