MSI reveals their Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio Graphics Cards

MSI has just revealed their new RDNA 2 gaming flagship, the Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio OC, a graphics cards which will ship with a significant factory overclock and meaty triple-fan heatsink.

The RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio will become available this month and provide gamers with AMD’s strongest GPU core, a higher game/boost clock than AMD’s reference Radeon RX 6900 XT model and three 8-pin PCIe power inputs. While the RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio has a rated power consumption of 300 watts, overclockers should be able to provide MSI’s Gaming Trio X model with additional power to deliver gamers enhanced overclocking potential.

Like AMD’s other Radeon RX 6900 XT GPUs, MSI’s model supports PCIe 4.0 connectivity, DisplayPort 1.4 (x3 ports) and HDMI 2.1 (x1 port). Sadly, this graphics card does not feature a USB Type-C display connector, which has been designed with VR users in mind.

Compared to AMD’s reference Radeon RX 6900 XT design, MSI’s Gaming X Trio OC features game clocks and boost clocks that are 90MHz higher. That said, without testing, it is hard to know how much more performance MSI’s Gaming X Trio OC will offer.

Hardware-wise, MSI’s RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio models benefit from MSI’s Torx Fan 4.0 fan blade designs, MSI’s “Core Pipe” maximum contact heatpipe tech, a custom PCB design, and support for three 8-pin PCIe power connectors to enable increased power draw for overclocking. MSI has also added thermal pads to their all-metal backplate to give their backplate more passive cooling potential.
